Sygnal's log is a very powerful tool in seeing traffic as it flows in and out of the system. Unfortunately it's a bit of a firehose and on busier sites you can have trouble picking out specific events. For that reason, we've developed filters.

The easiest way to set up a filter is by clicking on a hyperlink.

You will see the Traffic Sources as well as the Events.

*Traffic Sources and Events are all hyperlinked

Example of Traffic Sources: (Facebook, Yahoo, Direct, etc.)

Example of Events: (ViewContent, AddtoCart, Purchase, etc.)

Clicking those is going to give you the data from that specific channel and the individual events will all be from that channel.

Example: (Clicking on Facebook from Traffic Sources)

Example of individual events from the chosen source:

You can also double up! For example, you want to see the Purchase events from Facebook or any event from a traffic source of your choice.

Example of filtering both Traffic Source and Event:

Oh no! Does it seem like there's something weird going on? Are the events not displayed correctly even though you've done nothing wrong?

Don't worry! By default, there is an "OR" condition on the filters. We can correct the displayed events by simply selecting "AND".

Here's how you can do that:

Simply Click this button:

After clicking the button, the Manage filters window will pop-up:

Simply click on "OR" and change it to "AND" then Apply the filters!

After doing so, we'll now be able to get the data we're looking for.

Within Manage filters, there's a lot of powerful aspects you can search on.

Example of parameters you can search:

For example, you are trying to look for an event but all you can remember is the last name of the person who purchased. You can use the LastName filter to find the specific person you're looking for!

Simply change the filter to your desired output:

Enter the last name of the person you are looking for in the search bar and click on "Add [...]"

Once that's done, simply apply the filters!

*in this example we are using Welsh.

We have now found the event that we're looking for!

Example of the result:

You can click on the event to show all the data of that specific order.

Example of all the data pertaining to that specific order.

To remove any filters, you can just click on the "X" button on the filters.

Using this can give you a lot more information and allow you to drill down into the details of your events.
